Red Tide update
October 19, 2018
I had a feeling that Hurricane Michael would push the tide further north and today in the news it is confirmed that the red tide has moved further north and is impacting the IRB area. Depending on the wind flow, if it is an offshore wind, walking on the beach is fine because the air takes it away from the beach, but if the wind is an onshore flow, then that makes it the opposite.
The county has issued warnings that if you have an open wound, not to go into the Gulf until the tide subsides.
Luckily we have a pool and spa to offer our guests as an alternative to the beach.
I wanted to update everyone who is looking to come to our area on the red tide situation as I believe you should be an informed consumer.
Any changes to this situation I will definitely post an update as changes can occur quickly.
All the best, SunTiki cottages
